  • The road to Sousse is fast and easy — a straight, well-lit dual carriageway. You will be in the city centre in 20 minutes without touching the autoroute.
  • El Jem and Kairouan make a perfect day trip — head south to the amphitheatre, then loop west to Kairouan. The entire circuit is about 200 km on good roads.
  • Avoid driving at night in rural areas — livestock, unlit vehicles and pedestrians on the road. Keep night driving to cities and main roads.
  • Police checkpoints are common and routine — just slow down, show your driving licence and passport, and you will be waved through. Be polite and calm.
