The choice of vehicle depends on your itinerary. For visiting cities like Tunis, Sousse, and Hammamet and driving along the coastal roads, an "Economy" or "Compact" car is perfect and easy to park. If you plan to explore the Saharan tracks near Douz and Tozeur or the mountainous regions of the Northwest, renting an SUV or 4x4 is highly recommended for more comfort, safety, and better ground clearance. The Tunisian highway code is similar to the European one. Driving on highways and main national roads is generally smooth and the road conditions are good. In cities (Tunis, Sfax), traffic can be dense and the driving style more dynamic; vigilance is required, especially at roundabouts. Parking can be a challenge in city centers, but many paid parking lots are available. Using a GPS is recommended. Be sure to respect speed limits, which are often monitored by radar.
To rent a vehicle in Tunisia with 3A Rent Car, you must present a valid driver's license (national or international depending on your country of origin) and a valid passport. The minimum age is generally 21 with at least one year of driving experience.
